InterVideo Unveils Next Generation of WinDVD
June 7, 2004Combines the Latest in High-Definition Audio and Video Technologies With the Smoothest Motion Playback and New Just-for-Fun Features InterVideo announced today WinDVD 6, the latest version of the world's most popular software solution for watching DVDs on a PC. WinDVD 6 continues WinDVD's tradition of excellence while offering new features that enable consumers to enjoy enhanced video and audio quality on their PCs today and into the future. A universal player, WinDVD 6 Platinum combines support for an extensive range of video and audio formats, and integrates Trimension(TM) DNM (Digital Natural Motion) technology for the smoothest motion playback. New fun-to-use features such as Quick Clip, Smooth Reverse Playback and expanded MyPlayback capabilities have also been added to make watching videos on a PC or a laptop even more entertaining.
In addition to delivering the highest-quality DVD, VCD and Audio CD playback, WinDVD 6 Platinum can be used to watch Real, QuickTime, and MPEG-4 video files. Ready for the future, WinDVD 6 also supports all of the next-generation high-definition audio and video formats, including DVD-Audio, Intel(R) High Definition Audio, and WMV-HD (Windows(R) Media Video High Definition). Users can immediately enjoy the high-fidelity audio and crystal-clear video quality that these technologies provide. "The release of WinDVD 6 is significant because it's the first software DVD player that futureproofs the PC movie experience," said Steve Ro, president and CEO of InterVideo. "With modular encoding, decoding and DVD navigation for various video and audio formats, it's a universal player that lets users enjoy recently announced technologies today."
To ensure smooth, flawlessly sharp videos, WinDVD 6 includes Trimension DNM, the industry's most advanced motion compensation technology and the same technology used in high-end televisions. With Trimension DNM, motion judder, or trembling, in fast-moving pictures such as sports or action movies is eliminated.
WinDVD 6 Platinum is also equipped with a world-class suite of audio technologies for rich, surround sound. To further enhance the audio experience, InterVideo now includes the Audio Booster Pack with advanced features including Dolby(R) Digital, Dolby Headphone, Dolby Virtual Speaker, SRS TruSurroundXT(TM), SRS TruSurround XT Headphone and DTS(TM) Digital Surround Sound.
New features that have been added to make watching videos on a PC more fun include Smooth Reverse Playback and Quick Clips, a tool that enables users to grab a favorite movie scene as an animated picture file that can be easily shared with friends via email or a mobile phone. With MyPlayback, users can create playlists with audio tracks or video files from DVDs, VCDs, SVCDs and CDs. They can also bookmark favorite parts of DVDs and save them as a file (.bmk) for later viewing or emailing to a friend.
Convenient features such as time-stretching, Smart Stretch(TM) and the ability to watch DVDs while working on the computer or checking for emails are also included with WinDVD 6.
InterVideo's time-stretching and Mobile Technology make WinDVD 6 the ideal DVD playback solution for people who enjoy watching videos on their notebooks when they travel. InterVideo Mobile Technology helps users extend the battery life and playback time of mobile PCs based on Intel(R) Centrino(TM) processors. Time-stretching allows users to watch a 2-hour movie on a 1-hour and 30-minute flight by speeding up the playback without loss of audio or video quality.
With Smart Stretch, mobile and desktop users can customize their viewing image with intelligent compensation for the differences in displays and aspect ratios, i.e., when viewing 4:3 content on 16:9 or vice versa. InterVideo's non-linear technology minimizes the distortion by only stretching the edges of the video and maintaining the original content in the center portion of the image.
