Tuesday, 24 October 2006

KARLSBAD, Germany Nero, leaders in digital media technology, announces today that Zoran’s new Vaddis 888 DVD multimedia processor chip is Nero Digital™ Certified. Nero Digital™, co-developed by Nero and Ateme, is based on industry standards MPEG-4 Video (MPEG-4 SP/ASP and AVC/H.264) and MPEG-4 Audio (LC AAC and HE AAC) compression technologies. It enables the delivery of more high quality MPEG-4 compliant audio and video content at lower bit rates, while offering advanced interactive features.

Vaddis 888 is an advanced DVD multimedia processor with integrated video up-conversion and HDMI interface. The Vaddis 8 processor not only enables HDTV connectivity via HDMI and analog component HD-video with six 14-bit video DACs, but also is capable of supporting the full range of audio features including DVD-Audio and SACD playback. Its SD-to-HD up-conversion enables consumers to view their standard definition content at HD screen resolutions. The HD-JPEG feature enables display of JPEG images at HD resolution of up to 2 Mpixels.

“Our Vaddis 888 is ideal for manufacturers to address the full range of features for HDMI enabled DVD players,” said Mitchell Golner, Sr. Director, DVD Player Product Line, Home Entertainment Division at Zoran. “By enabling comprehensive Nero Digital playback, the end user benefits from the ability to play back more content, delivering a broader entertainment experience.”

“By supporting the Nero Digital codec, Zoran adds another important tool to its Vaddis 888 processor to meet consumers’ growing expectations and demands for performance and flexibility in their home and mobile entertainment experiences,” said Tim Windsor, General Manager, Nero Digital. “Nero Digital and the Vaddis 888 processor together deliver a formidable competitive edge to DVD manufacturers.”
